Privacy on DankDev sites
These sites are small, free and run by a private individual under the name DankDev. They have no accounts, no ads and no tracking cookies, and we sell nothing. This page says what the sites do handle. Where a site has its own privacy page, that page adds the details for that site.
Last changed 8 November 2026. This page changes when the sites do.

The web server’s log
When your browser asks one of our sites for a page or a file, the server writes one line: your IP address, the time, the address asked for, the page you came from and your browser’s name. We use it to keep the sites working and safe, for example to find faults and to stop abuse and bots. Every line is deleted after 14 days at most.
The visit counter
Most sites count visits with GoatCounter, which we run ourselves at stats.dankdev.com. It sets no cookie and stores nothing in your browser. For each page view it records the page, the page you came from, your browser and operating system, your screen size and language, and the country or region your IP address points to. Some tools also count an action by its name, such as a download, with nothing about you. The statistics hold no IP address.
The counter’s web server logs each count with your IP address, like any other request, for 14 days at most. We use those lines to keep bots and our own test visits out of the numbers.
To not be counted, block stats.dankdev.com in your browser or with a content blocker. The sites work the same without it.
In your browser
Some games and tools keep saves, scores and settings in your browser’s storage, so they are still there next time. They stay on your device until you clear the site’s data in your browser’s settings. They are not sent to us unless this page or the site’s own page says so.
Features that talk to our server
- dankloot.com: playing together, the shared town and hero names. Its own privacy page says what goes where.
- dankgame.com: the Daily board keeps the name you type, your score and a scrambled form of a random code from your browser, for 30 days. Names and scores are public on the board. Looking up your rank puts that random code in the web address, so it is also in the web server’s log for up to 14 days. Moving a save to another device keeps it on our server for 24 hours at most, or until it is picked up; the save holds your Daily board name and that code.
- danksnake.com: the daily puzzle keeps a random code from your browser together with your play history (days, moves, results) and a made-up player name, so your streak and best runs work. It never asks for your name or e-mail. These records have no time limit yet; we are adding one. Its about page has the details.
- dankchess.com: a relay passes moves between two players and keeps nothing. Chat connects your browser directly to the other player’s, so each of you can see the other’s IP address. To set that up, your browser asks a Google server (
stun.l.google.com) for a route, and Google sees your IP address. - 33o1.com, minkolo.com and nullcipherlabs.com count how many people are on the site through our second server,
draxu.net. It receives the connection, including your IP address, and keeps only totals. - weatherhack.com: your browser asks Open-Meteo (
api.open-meteo.com) for the weather, so Open-Meteo sees your IP address and the place you look up. If you choose your own location, your browser asks your permission first, and the coordinates go to Open-Meteo.
Other companies involved
- IONOS SE in Germany rents us the server that runs the sites, the logs and the visit counter.
- Namecheap, Inc., a US company, rents us the mail server that receives mail to privacy@dankdev.com and the
draxu.netserver above, so that data may leave the EU. We keep your mail only as long as we need it to deal with what you asked. - Cloudflare, Inc. carries dankdev.com, minkolo.com, n33q.com, oscillationa.com, radaraura.com and weatherhack.com and serves images for some sites, so it sees your IP address and the address you ask for. On n33q.com it can set a security cookie (
cf_clearance) when it checks that you are not a bot. - Google sees your IP address when nullcipherlabs.com loads its fonts and when dankchess.com chat finds a route.
- Open-Meteo, for weatherhack.com, as described above.
Why we may do this
- Game and tool features, and what they keep in your browser: they are what it takes to give you the feature you chose (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
- The web server’s log: our legitimate interest in keeping the sites working and safe (Article 6(1)(f)).
- The visit counter and the visitor totals: our legitimate interest in seeing how the sites are used, with nothing that says who you are (Article 6(1)(f)).
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, limit how it is used, get a copy of it, and object to any use that rests on our legitimate interest. Write to privacy@dankdev.com and you get an answer within one month.
There are no accounts, and many people can share one IP address, so we cannot tell whose a log line is. That is why we do not hand out log lines: they could be someone else’s. If you send us an IP address and a time, we can delete those lines. Either way they go by themselves within 14 days. What is stored in your browser only you can erase, as described above.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as the one where you live or work.
